Weir Cottage
So, middle weekend of our exchange, we travelled 250 miles south across the border into USA. Other than the foul weather the trip was uneventful and we arrived at about 6 pm at The Pinch Gut Mill. Now, Keith & I have been corresponding for five years and we met last year in England when they visited us. Keith had often sent pictures of his place but I have to admit I had no real idea about the proximity of that waterfall to the house. Truly breathtaking. Keith has lived in the house for over thirty years and has done much of the renovation and alteration himself and is a credit to him. Below are pictures:
With all pictures it is very hard to get scale but these pictures were taken from the dining room. Falls are about 30 x 12 feet:
On the Monday morning we set off for Ottawa. The weather was very poor and we wanted to take a boat trip around the Thousand Islands between USA/Canada. By some amazing luck, the weather cleared as we approached and we opted not to risk going to Rockport on the Canadian side, but to try for a trip from Alexandria Bay, USA. This proved a very good decision as, just as we arrived at the dock, the boat was about to leave and they held for us. The only problem was my camera batteries were nearly exhausted so the following pictures are without zoom:
