Golf - there are lots of courses nearby, usually offering guest facilities. A
handicap certificate may be required by the more serious clubs. Some are in the New
Forest itself and have the unusual obstruction of wandering ponies and other 'deposits'
making the putt just that little more difficult! I have given some links below to
specific courses having a web page, also a much more comprehensive listing. Remember
the house is situated at the edge of three counties: Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
Fishing - there are some very good lakes and rivers locally especially the Avon flowing
through Fordingbridge. For a listing go to the Where to Fish Directory. You could
try for a trout out of our own stream. They are there but elusive,
Sandy Balls - a holiday centre just outside Fordingbridge with indoor/outdoor pool,
fitness, etc. Inexpensive to use these facilities.
Tower Park, Poole - swimming with water slides/flumes, ten-pin bowling, 10-screen
cinema, "Burger King" (oops, sorry, burnt down 2003!!) etc.
Ringwood Sports Centre - usual range including swimming (15 mins.)
General - because of the proximity of the major centres almost every leisure activity
is not far away.
Eating Out - massive choice to suit all budgets where nearly every pub / inn offers
a range of food. Take-aways are available from Fordingbridge and Ringwood. Search
